Hey DJ, DJ Hot to Death
Published February 19, 2009 at 7 p.m.
DJ Hot to Death, aka local music impresario Matt Fecher, will rock the confines of The Walnut Room this Sunday when he opens for French Horn Rebellion alongside The Swayback's new project, JINXED! What subterranean cuts might you hear him spin at this shindig? Mr. Hot to Death himself is here to share with you three potential tracks, forthwith:
* Crookers vs. Kid Cudi - Day 'n Night
"Crookers will be co-headlining at the Ogden on April 16 with the Bloody Beetroots on their way to their prime spot on the Coachella Festival. What's all the buzz about? The Crookers and Beetroots are leading the charge of the uber-hot Italian electro-disco scene that the whole world is talking about. This particular track managed to cross Crookers over to the general pop music consciousness, and people can't stop requesting it."
* Hollywood Holt - Caked Up (Remix)
"I can't decide if I like the Hot Pink Delorean or Klever remix better, as I like and play both of them. Though you can usually hear the Klever remix played every night in Denver somewhere (Klever's remix was actually released a couple of years ago, but now it's hot as heck here in Denver). Holt is part of the Chicago hip-hop scene, well known for dropping verses with the Cool Kids, Mic Terror, Matt & Kim and more. It doesn't hurt that Holt's cousin and producer is (Million Dollar) Mano, who may be best known for his breakout Digitalism remix."
* The Swayback w/DJ Hot to Death - Queen's Dance Part II
"This is more of a rock track than a dance track (in the vein of A Place To Bury Strangers, Mars Volta, etc.) and it features some pretty heavy new guitars."
Show starts at 8 p.m. Sunday; cover is $7. The Walnut Room is located at 3131 Walnut St. More information at myspace.com/hottodeath and thewalnutroom.com
