All lanes of northbound Parker Road between Progress and Belleview are now open following roadway repairs.
The intense heat is being blamed for a buckling and heaving that closed down two lanes of northbound Parker Road near Belleview southeast of Denver.
The heaving happened about 7 Sunday evening.
Drivers could only use the shoulder to get through because both northbound lanes of Parker south of Belleview were closed, said Mindy Crane, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The concrete heaved about 10 inches on both northbound lanes, Crane said.
"We're looking into the cause, but we certainly think the intense heat that we've had played a factor," Crane said. "Over time, it expands and contracts. The heat finally caught up with it."
Sunday was the 15th consecutive day that Denver recorded a high temperature of at least 90 degrees.
CDOT couldn't get asphalt to the site Sunday night, so crews are starting this morning replacing the concrete with asphalt, Crane said.
