Massive Weld County wildfire now contained

A massive fire is now 100 percent contained near Keenesburg.

No one has been injured and no structures have been damaged in the blaze, which burned 1,500-2,000 acres, according to Chief Thomas Beach of the Southeast Weld Fire Protection District. Though a cause is not certain, authorities think it started near a pipeline installation operation west of Weld County Road 49, according to a release by the Weld County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office were originally asked to assist in an evacuation of the area, the release said, however the call has since been rescinded as the fire is contained.

Crews from the Hudson, Southeast Weld, and Kersey Fire Protection Districts have been dispatched to the fire.
