Washington Street closed for work near Adams County border

Morning commuters will have to avoid a road closure on north Washington Street near the Denver-Adams County border.

Denver Water crews repaired an 8-inch water main at 51st Avenue and Washington Street on Monday evening, but the paving is going on this morning.

Detour signs are in place, but the recommendation is that northbound traffic on Washington should take I-70 west to I-25 north to 58th Avenue to avoid the area.

Southbound traffic on Washington should take I-25 south to I-70 east to get back on Washington, Denver Water spokeswoman Stacy Chesney said.

Paving should be finished in time that it doesn't affect afternoon rush hour.
