V.I.PARTY!: Polo ponies up cash for kids

* The event: 21st Annual Denver Polo Classic Capital Grille Black Tie Ball, July 11 at the Polo Reserve development.

* A full weekend: Events continued after the ball. On July 12, families headed to the Polo Reserve development for College Invest Family Day, which featured children's activities and qualifying round professional polo matches. July 13 was Championship Day.

* Raised: Denver Active 20-30, a nonprofit service organization made up of young business leaders between the ages of 20 and 39, raised around $450,000. The money will go to nearly 40 children's organizations that provide services for at-risk or disadvantaged children.

* What a ball: Event included dinner by Capital Grille, music and dancing. Live and silent auctions included such treasures as rare wines and Denver Polo Classic Artwork.

* Chairman: Brian McCleary of Blue Ribbon Technology.

* Honored: Alumni of 20-30

* Seen: Joe Blake, Francis Koncilja, Janet Elway, George Karl, Kent Stevinson, Jack Trigg, Aaron Wallace, Lisa Schomp, Bob Gray and Hugo Barabucci.
