GREAT ESCAPES

Some of the stock show's past critters weren't so inclined to be penned up.

* A bull got loose in 2005, heading downtown along the railroad track. He caused several hours delay, blocking the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad's main line.

* Another year, a heifer escaped from her tie outs. She headed up an I-70 ramp and got as far as the Mouse Trap.

* A longhorn heifer made another getaway when she ran down Packinghouse Road and Arkins Court. She made it halfway to Coors Field before being cornered.

* The greatest escape came during the 1947 show. Before dawn on Jan. 12, 1947, 29 Aberdeen-Angus steers from Kansas crashed through their corral. Alarmed commuters came to crashing stops.
