Thank you for publishing the article by Tina Griego about Camp Noah in Windsor, CO. We truly appreciate the coverage and opportunity for the community to learn more about this event and Lutheran Family Services (LFS).
Camp Noah is indeed a wonderful week-long camp, but also a massive collaborative effort between LFS and the many partners that made it possible. We want to ensure that the community is aware of the scope of this project and how many partners worked together to achieve Camp Noah.
The partners that LFS brought together included several local churches, Weld County Food Bank, Dominos Pizza, The Red Cross, King Soopers and the crisis counseling group, Colorado Spirit that attended to the emotional needs of the children. During the course of the week several topics were addressed with the children and parents, such as disaster preparedness, evacuation plans and expected behaviors of children that have experienced trauma.
So as you can see Camp Noah was much more than a bible school, it was a national model for community response to help children process through the event and any residual trauma they may experience.
Lutheran Family Services of Colorado has been extending a hand to vulnerable children and families since 1948. LFS Provides programs and services to people in Northern Colorado regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender or age. Services are provided in the areas of Adoption, Disaster Response, Foster Care, Fostering Family Strengths and Teen Pregnancy Prevention.
Thank you for your support as we serve the vulnerable in our community.
