LINCOLN PARK — About 1,000 immigration-reform marchers entered Lincoln Park this morning, carrying a giant inflatable Statue of Liberty and an enormous reprint of the U.S. Constitution while being led by several men in native Mexican dress.
The turnout, though far less than organizers had predicted, still fills nearly half the large park, where the crowd will hear speakers and musical performers in a program organized by the We Are Americans Alliance.
The alliance seeks immigration reform that its leaders say focuses on keeping families together and providing an easier path to citizenship.
