Small plane crashes near Centennial Airport

Published September 12, 2007 at midnight

A single-engine airplane crashed at Meridian Golf Course near Centennial Airport this afternoon after the pilot reported engine problems.

The pilot was helped out of the airplane by two nearby golfers, said Penny Thomas, director of accounting at the course.

The crash occurred about 2:40 p.m. when the pilot, who was approaching the airport, reported the engine was failing, said Becky O'Guin, spokeswoman for the Parker Fire Protection District.

O'Guin said the pilot was injured but would not disclose the extent of his injuries.

Robert Olislagers, executive director at Centennial, said the man was flying a Cessna 180.
