I-70 back open in the high country

Published February 17, 2007 at midnight

Interstate 70 is now open in both directions, state officials said.

Winds, blowing snow, and avalanche danger had closed much of the interstate in the high county earlier today.

Some roadways are still closed:

U.S. 6 closed over Loveland Pass

U.S. 40 closed over Berthoud Pass (local traffic allowed through Empire to the Henderson Mine)

U.S. 40 closed both directions over Rabbit Ears Pass

Colorado 91 closed northbound only over Fremont Pass

US 40 closed both directions between Kremmling and Steamboat Springs
