SPIN TO WIN

Zach Knaus, the chief spinmeister for the Senate Democrats, put up a sign in the press office that says, "Spin like a champion today."

"He wants us to do the Norte Dame thing and tap it on the way out," joked policy analyst Andy White.

Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald, D-Coal Creek Canyon, didn't get the joke when she saw the sign.

"Who's taking spinning classes here?" she wanted to know.

NEW DRIVING FORCE

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has a new hybrid SUV that promises to deliver science education across the state.

Graphics on the vehicle are of a dinosaur, an astronaut, a giant butterfly, totem poles, crystals and infrared images of hands.

About the new ride:

1 The four-wheel-drive vehicle, which was donated by Toyota, is valued at $36,600.

2 It will be on the road more than 250 days a year.

3 It gets 32 miles per gallon in the city and 27 on the highway.

A TASTE OF HUNGER

Thousands of teens representing metro-area schools and youth groups will participate Feb. 23-24 in the 16th World Vision 30 Hour Famine.

The teens hope to raise money to fight hunger in the U.S. and around the world.

500,000 teens across the nation will participate.

National goal: To raise $12 million to help children in famine-ravaged nations.
