Orediggers upset No. 13 Mavericks

GOLDEN - The Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team opened the season with a 55-52 Division II win against No. 13 Nebraska-Omaha in the second game of Friday's Colorado School of Mines Classic in Volk Gymnasium.
The Orediggers held a 52-42 lead with 5 minutes, 31 seconds to play, but the Mavericks pulled to within 54-52 with 26 seconds to play on a free throw by Michael Jenkins. Nebraska-Omaha had a chance to tie with a three-pointer but missed as time expired.

The score was tied 40-40 at the half, but Metro State pulled away in the second. Dustin Ballard also chipped in 17 for the Roadrunners.
J.R. Rogers led the Cavaliers with 16 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
